Day 16, day one of copenhagen
Yesterday was our last day in Odense, and we started it off by visiting the Hans Christian Anderson museum. If you don’t know who Hans Christian Anderson is, he is the one who wrote “The Ugly Duckling,” and “The Little Mermaid.” My favorite part about the museum was this huge room full of books, and all of the books were the same but different. This was because they were all in different languages! So obviously me being the Norwegian obsessed ones, I went directly to the Norwegian books, and snapped some pictures. Now I am just hoping that Skogfjorden will have these books in the library so I can read them when I get there! After the museum, we had about two hours till the train was leaving so a few girls and I decided to lay out in the sun at a park. And boy did I get some sun! :)
We the took the train to Copenhagen, and we were told that it was a busy city in comparison to Aalborg and Odense, the other cities we visited in Denmark. And boy was that statement true. The moment we got off the train, there were people everywhere. No matter how much you tried to avoid it, people would be at your shoulders left and right. When we reached our hotel we quickly settled in, and then we ready to eat! We all went to this cute restaurant that nestled in the middle of the town square. Almost all of our group ordered burgers. (Can you tell that were missing our American food?!) And the burgers were HUGE and so delicious! Funny thing in Denmark is that instead of saying that there is pickles on something they say cucumbers, so if you ever travel and don’t like pickles, pay attention to the cucumbers. We all thought it was funny. But this burger, I cannot even describe how good it was! It had this sauce on it, that was almost like a chipolte sauce but better. And it was served with potato wedges and more sauce. With a large diet coke (or cola light as they call it here) my dinner was amazing! After we ate, we went back to the hotel to change into pants, because the buildings were blocking the sun, and it got really cold fast. We then headed to Tivoli, which is like a huge amusement park that also has restaurants, gardens and much more! I learned that it was built in 1843, and is the second oldest amusement park in the world! Tivoli reminded me a lot like valleyfair, from back home. However, Tivoli was may more classier. The sucky thing is that you have to pay to get into Tivoli and then you also have to pay for the rides you go on, which was kind of a bummer. I don’t think I will be riding any of the rides, because they are around five dollars a piece, kind of not worth it in my book. We also saw a really cool light show last night. After the light show we over with, we went straight to bed!
